Nellie, a spunky nurse from Arkansas, becomes romantically involved with a French plantation owner, Emile de Becque, and a young marine named Joe Cable falls for a beautiful island native named Liat. The original Broadway production won the Pulitzer Prize and ten Tony Awards, including Best Musical and Best Score, which includes "I'm Gonna Wash That Man Right Outa My Hair," "Some Enchanted Evening," "There Is Nothing Like a Dame," “Younger Than Springtime,” “Bali Ha’i," and "I'm in Love with a Wonderful Guy."
